Fay-Ann Lyons Bows Out from Organizing Soca Monarch 2020

Faye Ann Lyons was the organizer for Soca Monarch 2019. Many fans were pleased at the production in 2019 and were looking forward to 2020. Up to last Friday they were waiting for an announcement on the dates for Soca Monarch 2020.

Unfortunately yesterday, Thursday, Faye-Ann Lyons released via Instgram that she will be unable to be part of organizing the show in 2020. She indicated how much she enjoyed last year but that the go ahead for her organizing the 2020 show was given too late.

Her full statement read:

It was the kind of work that made you smile, and made others see a piece of their dreams materialized. This year I was not given a timely Go Ahead to start and as such my heart cannot be put into a rushed product. I believe in giving the public a Soca Monarch they deserve and with limited time it becomes harder to accomplish. I don’t own the event so I do wait on the say so of others. Nevertheless my team and I appreciated the experience and wish the Owners all the best with my replacement. We hope they will at least continue a small part of the standard that was appreciated by the Trinidad and Tobago public and those internationally and always seek to deliver a product that is WORTHY OF OUR CULTURE and those that love and support it. It was indeed a pleasure, on behalf of my entire team THANK YOU! Fay-Ann Lyons

Fans were disappointed and hoped they could convince Faye-Ann to reconsider with some humor since Fay-Ann has been diving off the stage during her performances. She was having none of it.

The real question now is who is taking over the organization of Soca Monarch 2020? David Wears asked what was on everyone’s mind!
